Coach Accreditation

Many coaches in Britain have different skills and experience. It can be hard for clubs to choose the right coach. How do you know if a coach has undertaken basic First Aid training and completed a CRB check?

Accreditation can help clubs to understand the standards and checks that a coach has agreed to.

From June 30th 2009 there will be two levels of accreditation for coaches and coaching assistants.

REGISTRATION
Registration provides a basic accreditation for coaches and coaching assistants who are committed to minimum standards for safety and ethics.

Registration is for anyone that has attended an assessed tennis coaching workshop (1 day minimum).

It provides reassurance to players and their parents that a coach or coaching assistant has undergone basic training, a CRB check and First aid training and has public liability insurance.

COACH LICENCE
The Coach Licence is a higher level, more demanding accreditation.  It shows that a coach has reached a minimum standard or qualification, has undergone relevant checks and is committed to Continuous Professional Development (CPD). The scheme also offers coaches a range of benefits including a comprehensive insurance package.

The Licensing Scheme is open to all coaches with a NVQ Level 2 Qualification in Tennis Coaching and above. With its emphasis on CPD, a Coach Licence clearly demonstrates that a coach is a skilled and up-to-date professional.

More detailed information on choosing the right coach will be available on the LTA website shortly

CCPR Sports Club Survey, 2009

CCPR Sports Club Survey, 2009

Would you like to win £200 of Decathlon vouchers for your club or a weekend in a top class London hotel? If so please help with this survey, which is being conducted by the Central Council of Physical Recreation (CCPR).

CCPR is the umbrella organisation for national governing bodies of sport and recreation in the UK. Its mission is to 'protect, promote and provide' for sport and recreation. The information you provide will be extremely useful for CCPR as it lobbies Government to promote the welfare of sport and argues for increased support and funding for sports clubs. To access the survey click here

Please answer the questions as completely as you can. They are about your club - including its membership, volunteers and finances. You will need a copy of your club’s annual reports and accounts from the last two years in order to answer some of the questions. Please make sure you have this information to hand before you start to fill in the questionnaire.

Please be assured that your responses will be kept confidential and anonymous. The survey is being administered for the CCPR by the Sport Industry Research Centre at Sheffield Hallam University. If you would like to know more about SIRC, and the type of work they do, please visit http://www.shu.ac.uk/research/sirc/. If you have any queries about the survey, or require any further assistance, please telephone David Barrett on (0114) 225-2298; or email d.barrett@shu.ac.uk.
